Open Mic Night

Join us in sharing queer grief, resilience, rage, joy, and love through an open mic night at the Wildrose Bar.

Wednesday, December 14th from 7-9pm. Sign-ups for open mic slots (~5 minutes) will open at 6:30pm.

Queer bars and clubs are a refuge for our community and we are heartbroken and angered by the recent attack on Club Q in Colorado Springs. This Open Mic Night is an opportunity for people to come together, to return to that sense of refuge, and express themselves through poetry, music, prose, and performances.

As we remember and honor those injured and taken from us in the Club Q shooting, we will share direct links to verified funds in support of both the survivors and families of victims.

Open Mic Details:

Slots will be ~5 minutes long; a “1 minute” reminder sign will be shown to assist with time tracking.

Covers and readings of non-original work are welcome.

We will have a sound engineer, with setup for multiple microphones and stands. There are no guitar amps or plug-ins.

Accessibility Details:

The Wildrose Bar has an accessible entrance.

We are working to secure ASL interpreters for this event and encourage anyone signing up to bring copies of their lyrics/poetry/scripts, etc for interpreting purposes.

COVID POLICY:

Masks will be required at this Open Mic, except when actively drinking or during a performers slot (when they will be separated from the audience). We will have masks available and will provide reminders throughout the evening for attendees to continue masking.

The Wildrose Bar encourages but does not require masking. This means attendees will likely be exposed to unmasked patrons in other portions of the bar.

We will also be hosting a virtual open mic night via zoom on Thursday, December 15th from 7-9pm. Register at https://bit.ly/virtualopenmic1215 for the link.

WEDNESDAY OCT 19 | 8:15 PM | NORTHWEST FILM FORUM
AVAILABLE VIRTUALLY OCT 13-23

Michelle Ehlen (writer, director, and star of MAYBE SOMEDAY) comes back to SQFF (HETEROSEXUAL JILL and S&M SALLY) with a drama about love, friendship, and finding yourself after a breakup. Jay is moving to LA after separating from her wife. Along the way she stops to visit her high school best friend Jess, who she used to be secretly in love with, and ends up staying for a while to sort her life out. As she settles in to her new life, she meets Tommy, an amateur standup comedian who becomes her new gay best friend as they bond over comedy and life’s hard knocks. Ehlen brings a hopeful and entertaining story about self-realization and getting through the hard times, reminding us that we really do get by with a little help from our chosen family!

2022 Seattle Dyke March

The 2022 Dyke March will be an in-person event!

We are so excited to come together as a community in our usual space again. To celebrate the incredible talent and leadership in our community through speakers and performers who will inspire us at our Rally. To fill the streets of Capitol Hill with queer women, dyke-identified people, and all of the people who love us. The last few years have reinforced just how important community is, how we have to rely on each other, and reminded us that none of us can be truly free until we are all free. That we have to fight the good fight, but we must always combine that with celebration. We need to fight for each other and recharge with one another.

We cannot wait for the 2022 Seattle Dyke March where we will highlight organizations and individuals doing the hard work and dance, sing along, move and be connected through the incredible artists and performers in our community. Join us on June 25, 2022 to fight, celebrate, and march!
